Move Out Instructions

Dear
Resident,
This
letter is to advise you of some important information regarding
the vacating of your apartment.
We
expect that you will totally move out of your apartment no later
than 12:00 noon on the last day of your lease. If you are planning
on leaving the apartment earlier, we would greatly appreciate
your telling us in order that we may begin to prepare the apartment
for the new residents.
When
moving your belongings out of your apartment, we are anticipating
that you will continue to observe all parking regulations. This
includes not driving or parking on any lawn. Further, please do
not leave your car unattended in any fire lane. Failure to observe
the parking regulations may cause your car to be towed without
further notice.
We
will inspect your apartment for damages and any wear and tear
that is beyond normal use. You are required by your lease to leave
your apartment in broom
clean condition. You may be charged for cleaning if the
following are not observed:
- The refrigerator
and freezer must be emptied of all food and cleaned. Please be
sure to leave both trays in the freezer.
- The stove
must be clean, including the oven and the broiler.
- Bathrooms
must be cleaned including the tub, tiled walls, toilet, and sink.
- All cabinets
and closets must be emptied. Be sure to also check the dishwasher
for any last minute dishes, glasses, etc.
- Rugs must
be vacuumed.
- Floors should
be swept, cleaned, and picked up including the common hallways
in front of your apartment.
- All belongings
and furniture must be removed from the apartment and the porch
area.
- All trash
(and other belongings you are not taking with you) must be put
in the dumpster.
- Please remember
to leave behind the recycling bin assigned to your apartment.
- Security
deposits (less any deduction for security applied to rent and/or
damages) will be returned to you no later than the end of the
next month, provided we are given a proper forwarding address.
Do not depend on the post office forwarding the check to you.
Further, we will return security in the form of one check only.
Unless we are instructed otherwise by all tenants on the lease
(no exceptions), the check will be made payable to all tenants
on the lease. It will then be up to all of you to endorse the
check and cash it. We will write one check in the name of one
lessee on the condition that all other roommates agree in writing
as to who is to receive this check. If you are interested in receiving
the refund in this manner, please come to the office to get the
appropriate form to be filled out and returned. If you choose
this option, the completed form must be received by us prior to
the check being processed in the home office.
Please return
all keys (both front door and the mailbox) to the office. Your
failure to return keys may subject you to a lost key charge.
If you are subletting or assigning your apartment, please return
your key to the office. Please advise the sublettors/assignees
to pick up their keys from the office.
Please be
sure to call the electric company and have them turn the electric
off and out of your name. The electric company will need a forwarding
address for the final billing.
Each tenant
should advise both the Rockwood office and the post office of
their new address.
We hope
